Day 49 - It's A Wrap!

Today is officially the last day of the pasta pass and I can't say i'm sad to see it end. Over all it was a positive experience and I'm glad I got one. I would recommend pretty much anything on the menu except the sausage, it was consistently salty and bland. I liked the Fettuccine Alfredo with the Chicken Fritta the best, the cheese sauce is very creamy with a great taste. The Chicken Fritta was always very good but when not limited to the pass you can get the Alfredo meal with grilled chicken which makes it that much better. Before I got this pass I would go a half dozen times a year and that would be what I usually ordered. I didn't really mention the salad much but the dressing is the main reason I go back there. It's like pouring liquid gold over your salad! That and the after dinner mints which are Andes Candies made specifically for Olive Garden. They are now my favorite mint and chocolate combination. It used to be York Peppermint Patties till I saw the public service announcement on Family Guy.

I consumed over 37000 calories in 35 days which averaged out to about 1050 per meal and probably 3500 calories per day with my other meals, snacks, and 3 am snacks. I was 165 lbs when it started and I gained...nothing. I'm afflicted with "a**hole can eat anything" disease, or at least I've heard it called that.

My most consumed pasta was the Angel Hair which I had 20 of the 35 days. The Marinara beat out the meat sauce by one day with 10 and the Chicken Fritta was the clear topping winner with 15 of the 35 days. I think the take out had a lot to do with my choices, I would of had more of the cheese sauces if I ate in house. When I did eat in, the staff was helpful and pleasant. The girls at the bar came to know me by name and they were all really nice.

The total cost ended up at $556.30 which gave me $456.30 of net "profit". I would probably spend that amount in 49 days on groceries but I only spent about $50.00 since September so my overall savings was around $400.00.

They said they only gave out a thousand but I think they oversold. I noticed when everyone was getting their cards it was in a custom display box and they had them a few days after the order. Mine came overnight the Friday before it started and it was in a bulk mailer envelope with the card, welcome note and the envelope all just tossed in. If that was the case, kudos to Olive Garden for honoring the screw-up.

I will definitely be going back again..not this year tho. It's better than a McDonald's or Burger King without costing that much more. If nothing else you can also get alcohol there to make you forget how it was.

Day 47 - It's The End Of The Pass As We Know It...

That's great, it starts with a pasta plate
Bread and salad, unlimited, and Kelly Ripas not afraid

Eye on the menu, looking at the sampler
Waiting for the wine list, they forget the wine list
Order up a red, white, blush, no, magnum
The waiter brings some water with extra napkins
Bread in a basket, representing buttered garlic
And a mushroom appetizer from a combo plate
Salad is coming in a hurry with the dressing and the grated cheese

Cappuccino, Caffe latte, whip cream topped
Fighting back chest pain, fine, then
Uh-oh, classico, probably, common food
But it'll do, save yourself, serve yourself
Waiter serves your last plate, no more pasta days straight
Tell me was the pasta and the meat just right, right
You alcoholic, pastaholic, risotto bite, quite right
Feeling pretty psyched

It's the end of the pass as we know it
It's the end of the pass as we know it
It's the end of the pass as we know it, and I feel fine

Chicken parm, whole or half, don’t forget to tip the staff
Pepper, salt, default, passes in a bank vault
Lasagna primavera, Baked Salmon, Bruschetta
Every bite on my plate, candle votive, overweight
Eat a bread stick, eat a plate, one more, one more
Watch your waist grow, grow, uh-oh
Next plate linguine, fettuccine, stuffed or fried zucchini
A tour thru, a tour thru, a tour of Italy
Offer me zeppoli, offer me some cake, and I decline

It's the end of the pass as we know it (I had some time alone)
It's the end of the pass as we know it (I had some time alone)

The other night I dined a nice lasagna fritta fried
Frittas dipped in batter, Leonard Hofstadter
Extra bread sticks, classy, spicy calamari
Black Tie Mousse Cake, Tiramisu
You catatonic, gastronic, pig out. Check! Right, right...

It's the end of the pass as we know it (It's time I had some time alone)
It's the end of the pass as we know it (It's time I had some time alone)

(It's time I had some time alone)

For my final night of the Pasta Pass season I had dinner in house. I finished out the year with the Fettuccine Alfredo w/ Chicken Fritta, salad and 2 Cokes.

20141107_182328

Since I ate there it was a nice creamy sauce and the chicken was cooked perfectly. Everything was very good tonight and it was a great way to end this little experiment. I will give this meal a 9.5 out of 10.

Day 46 - Pasta Ghost - Coast to Coast

I had this gym teacher in school
Who talked like this
Yeah, buddy
Yeah, boy
Yeah, buddy buddy buddy
Boy boy boy boy
Yeah
Hey, baby
Yeah, baby
Yeah, buddy
Yeah, buddy baby boy
Buddy baby boy
Yeah, yeah yeah
Baby, baby boy
Yeah, buddy
I liked him a lot
'Cause he gave me a D
Sure I did
When I told my mom about it
She got so excited
She got me a pasta pass
The end

Tonight I had the Angel Hair pasta w/ the Marinara sauce, Shrimp Fritta, Zuppa Toscana and a Coke.

20141106_184145

I thought I had ordered the marinara sauce but I got the spicy meat sauce instead?? It was ok tonight but since I am on the last week I thought I would try the Zuppa soupa but i'm sorry I did because it gave me the poopas. I don't know if it was the soup, pasta or shrimp but I'm currently sitting here hoping I don't puke... I thought a one was the lowest score I could give but that was for edible food. A 0 out of 10.

Day 45 - Pasta & Stimpy

Ren: [afflicted with Space Madness and holding a pasta pass he's been chewing] Oh, no! I know what you want! You coveteth my pasta pass!
Stimpy: Easy now...
Ren: [shouts] No you don't! You can't take it from me now!
[starts to cry]
Ren: I've had this pasta pass since I was a child. People... always trying to take it from me... why... won't they leave me... *alone*!
[grabs a bread stick]
Ren: [shouts] Don't make me use this! One step closer, I'm warning you! Don't make me use it!
[Stimpy takes one more step]
Ren: Now you've done it! You forced me to use it!

I stayed with the Angel Hair pasta w/ Marinara sauce, Chicken Fritta and a Coke.

20141105_182924

Tonight's plate was actually really good. The chicken was cooked just right and everything just tasted good together for a change. My dog Pocket was even trying to steal a bite while I was taking the picture. It could of used a little more sauce but other than that it took me back to the good 'ole days of  September when the leaves were still on the trees and my taste buds didn't scream at the sight of pasta. I will give this meal an 8 out of 10.

Day 44 - Dungeon Pass

You wake up on the sidewalk, to the west of you there is a large building. There is a lighted sign over the building.
READ SIGN
The sign says Olive Garden.
GO EAST
You are in the middle of a large parking lot. There is nothing here so you return to the sidewalk.
GO WEST
You are at the front door of the building.
KNOCK ON DOOR
The people inside look at you quizzically.
OPEN DOOR
You open the door and enter the lobby of the building. To your north and south are doors with signs on them and to the west lies a dimly lit room.
GO NORTH
You are facing a large wooden door, there is an old metal sign attached to the door.
READ SIGN
The sign says Mens.
GO SOUTH
You are facing a large wooden door, there is an old metal sign attached to this door as well.
KNOCK ON DOOR
No one answers.
GO WEST
You enter a dimly lit room with tables and a bar at the other end of the room. TVs are playing on the north and south walls.
LOOK AT TABLES
An old couple sits at one of the tables enjoying some type of food, you can't make out what type from here. The other tables are empty but one of them has some money on it.
TAKE MONEY
As you go to pick up the money a large man grabs you by the neck and starts to twist. The last thing you hear as you die is the man cackling.
..
You wake up on the sidewalk, to the west of you there is a large building. There is a lighted sign over the building.
GO WEST
You ar...
OPEN DOOR
You op..
GOWEST
I'm sorry I don't understand.
GO WETS
I'm sorry I don't understand.
F**KING GO WEST
I'm sorry I don't understand.
GO WEST
Yo...
GO WEST
You are standing in front of a bar. A plethora of fine liquors line the wall behind the bar. The bartender has a shocked look on his face wondering why you were screaming "GO WEST" while running up to the bar.
LOOK AT LIQUOR
Bottles from the furthest reaches of the world are lined up in 3 rows.
BUY LIQUOR
You ask the barkeep for a shot of their finest liquor. He shows you the price so you take a shot of their most affordable liquor.
TALK TO BARTENDER
The bartender tells you of a magical pass that bears the holder an endless supply of pasta. He goes on to say how only a select few were chosen and they... While he is talking you have flashes of a golden pass, like you've seen it somewhere before.
USE PASS
You wave your empty hands at the bartender. He frowns at you and takes the bottle he had on the bar and puts it back on the shelf. "There will be no more liquor for you sir". You may want to check your wallet.
OPEN WALLET
A poof of dust escapes as you open the wallet. The only thing inside is a pasta pass.
TAKE OUT PASTA PASS
You pull out the pasta pass and the bartender recognizes it right away. "Oh, i'm sorry sir let me get that for you".The bartender scurries away and returns with a large bag filled with food.
You have found the pasta treasure, thank you for playing.

For the last Tuesday meal I had the Angel Hair pasta w/ Meat sauce, Chicken Fritta and a Coke.

20141104_181250

The taste was pretty good tonight, I didn't feel like I had to force it down. That was till I ran out of the meat sauce about half way through the pasta. The chicken was a little overcooked but overall it was pretty good. I will give this meal a 6.5 out of 10.

Down to the final week!! I was planning on eating in the restaurant this final week but I'm back on call so it will probably be take out. I'm sticking with the Angel Hair pasta w/ Marinara, meatballs and a Coke.

20141103_182245

I don't know how many ways I can say the same thing so it was all good. I'm going more for a finish/no finish goal on these last couple days. I was wondering how long it would take to get sick of home made spaghetti. I would imagine it would be a couple extra months. The main issue with getting food from a restaurant is getting it right. You don't really pick up everything that is wrong if you just eat one meal but night after night after night you find all the faults. Anyway, it was edible tonight so I will give this meal a 7 out of 10.

Day 40 - Nightmare on Pasta Street

One, two, OG's coming for you
Three, four, better lock your door
Five, six, get your pasta fix
Seven, eight, gonna finish the plate
Nine, ten, never eat again

Tonight featured the Angel Hair pasta w/ the Spicy Meat sauce, Italian Sausage and a Coke.

20141031_181037

The pasta was a little over cooked but was edible, the spicy sauce was just that, spicy. I stayed away from the sausage but since I'm coming to the end of the pass I thought I would try and now I know why I didn't. The only taste it had was the saltiness, the sausage itself was bland other than that. I will give this meal a 6 out of 10.

No, not on me, man.
It'd be a lot cooler if you did.

I went with the Angel Hair pasta w/ the Marinara sauce, the meatballs and a Coke.

20141030_180117

I was happy to find that my pasta pallet wasn't f**ked. It was a good meal tonight, the pasta was cooked just right and the marinara sauce and meatballs are always good. I got the salad with it which I don't think will be making it through the night in the fridge. I will give this meal a 9 out of 10.

Day 37 - Willy Wonka and the Pasta Factory

Round the world and home again
That's the sailor's way
Faster faster, faster faster

Yet another day of knowing
To Olive Garden we are going
There's no knowing where we're rowing
Or which way the pasta's flowing

Is it raining, is it snowing
Is a hurricane a-blowing

Not a speck of plate is showing
So the pasta must be growing
Are the appetizers a-glowing
is the waitress easygoing

Yes, the pasta must be growing
For the servers keep on serving
And they're certainly not showing
Any signs that they are slowing

Tonight I had the Fettuccine Alfredo w/ Shrimp Fritta and a Coke.

20141028_175339

I had to get something different so I went with the dry pasta. In the restaurant it is pretty good but the alfredo sauce can not sit..At all. After about an hour I was finished and the taste was good, just dry. I'll give this meal a 7 out of 10.

Day 36 - Pastafest

Pasta recall. I gave my subjects massive quantities of pasta and then I taught them things while they were bloated. When they woke up the next morning, they couldn't remember anything. But when I gave them pasta again, they remembered everything that I taught them the night before.

Last night I had the Angel Hair pasta w/ the Meat sauce, Chicken Fritta, Pasta e Fagioli soup and a Coke.

20141027_181249

This was by far my worst meal there, the pasta was so over cooked it was mushy and I've had fish that tasted more like chicken than this. I ended up tossing it and eating the soup and bread sticks. I will have to give this my lowest score of a 1 out of 10.

Day 33 - The Joy of Pasta

Okay, to load the bread stick just tap it. Pull out a little bit of sauce.. just a little bit of sauce like so and tap it. Tap it right in there and that will assure even distribution of the sauce on the bread stick. Now you want to take your number two fork and twirl the pasta, start from the middle and just twirl it around your fork. Just twirl it back and forth, back and forth till you have a happy little bit of pasta ready to be gobbled up. Maybe you want to get a little bit of the marinara, just a tiny, tiny bit and add it into the pasta. Then just for fun, you can add some of the chicken fritta to top off the bite. Or maybe it's the shrimp fritta tonight, it's up to you, totally and completely up to you. I think either one would make it a happy little bite.

Last night I had the Angel Hair pasta w/ the Marinara and Chicken Fritta.

20141024_180932

It wasn't too bad, the pasta was done just right and the chicken was not over cooked. The marinara sauce was okay and there was just enough for all the pasta so it was easy to eat. Over all, the week ended better than it began, I will give this meal a 8.5 out of 10. I was going to post this last night but right before I did a unicorn knocked on my window and was all, come out and play.. F**kin' A right I'm going out to have fun! Tonight I went with the Angel Hair pasta w/ Spicy Meat sauce, Shrimp Fritta and a Coke.

20141023_155155

I was thinking about skipping after last night but I pushed through and... it turned out okay. I am sticking with the Angel Hair for all take out. It is the most forgiving to being over cooked, which it was. The meat sauce was good tonight, it was really spicy which helped with the taste. The shrimp was okay but it really doesn't go well with the meat sauce, once again I really just needed a different taste. Other than the overcooked pasta it was good so I will give this meal a 7.5 out of 10.

Day 31 - The Usual Pasta

What is the Pasta Pass? It is supposed to be Turkish. Some say it came from Germany. Nobody believed it was real. Nobody ever saw it or knew anybody that ever used one, but to hear Kobayashi tell it, anybody could have used a Pasta Pass. You never knew. That was its power. The greatest trick the Devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn't exist. And like that, poof. It's gone.

Tonight I had the Penne Pasta w/ the Meat sauce, Meatballs and a Coke.

20141022_181752

It is getting to be a chore to finish the pasta, it tasted okay but it is still pasta after pasta after pasta. I could probably stretch out their whole menu further but limited to only 3 good take home sauces it gets pretty bland. I'll be strong and push through the pasta and give this meal a 7 out of 10.

Woah, woah.. tonight it was just the Penne pasta w/ the 5 Cheese Marinara, Chicken Fritta, Pasta e Fagioli soup and a Coke.

20141021_180622

The pasta and sauce were okay but I just couldn't make it through all the pasta tonight. The chicken was overcooked and hard so over all the meal was not great. I did then have the soup and I'm thinking salad coming up later. I will give this meal a 5 out of 10.
Calories - 1200

Day 29 - Pulp Pasta

Jules: I'm sorry, did I break your concentration? I didn't mean to do that. Please, continue, you were saying something about best intentions. What's the matter? Oh, you were finished! Well, allow me to retort. What does the Pasta Pass look like?
Brett: What?
Jules: What country are you from?
Brett: What? What? Wh - ?
Jules: "What" ain't no country I've ever heard of. They speak English in What?
Brett: What?
Jules: English, motherf***er, do you speak it?
Brett: Yes! Yes!
Jules: Then you know what I'm sayin'!
Brett: Yes!
Jules: Describe what the Pasta Pass looks like!
Brett: What?
Jules: Say 'what' again. Say 'what' again, I dare you, I double dare you motherf***er, say what one more Goddamn time!
Brett: It... it's green...
Jules: Go on...
Brett: It's plastic
Jules: Does it look like a bi*ch?
Brett: What?
Jules: [Shoots Brett in the shoulder] DOES IT LOOK LIKE A BI*CH?
Brett: No!
Jules: Then why you try to f**k it like a bi*ch?
Brett: I didn't...
Jules: Yes you did. Yes you did! You tried to f**k it. And the Pasta Pass don't like to be f***ed by anybody except Mrs. Pasta Pass.

Tonight the Olive Garden Pasta Pass featured meal was Angel Hair pasta w/ Marinara sauce, Meatballs and a Coke(which I think was diet).

20141020_175341

The pasta was almost done right tonight so over all that made it a much better meal. The meatballs were pretty good and there was enough sauce for 100 percent coverage. Didn't drink the Coke but I don't factor that into my scores anyway so tonight I will give this meal an 8.5 out of 10.

Tonight I went with the safe meal and got the Angel Hair pasta w/ The Meat sauce, Chicken Fritta,  Pasta e Fagioli soup, bread sticks and a Coke.

20141017_183204

The meal wasn't totally safe because the sauce was limited on tonight's meal again. I don't know if it is a "to go" thing but the lack of sauce is the easiest way to ruin the meal. It was flavorful up until the last quarter then I was scraping for sauce. The chicken was cooked almost perfectly and the soup gave my pallet something other than pasta. The bread sticks were awesome with the soup. Over all it was a good combination and i will give this plate an 8 out of 10.

Day 25 - Arrested Pasta

I've made a huge mistake.

So, tonight I ignored my own advice and got the Fettuccine pasta w/Alfredo sauce, Chicken Fritta, Pasta e Fagioli soup, a Coke and possibly left over salad later.

20141016_181149

The chicken was good but the pasta was really dry. I knew that was going to be the case but I am starting to need something different. I definitely couldn't be a zombie, brains all the time would be so bland. I ended up just eating all the chicken and about half the pasta. Since I wasn't stuffed on the pasta I had the Pasta e Fagioli soup which is really good. If you never had it just think of as an Italian chili. I'm going back for the salad from yesterday(?) later on. I'm not factoring the dryness into my 8 out of 10 score.

Day 24 - Pasta Park

Goin' down to Olive Garden, gonna have myself a time
Friendly faces everywhere, humble folks without temptation
Goin' down to Olive Garden, gonna leave my woes behind
Ample parking day or night, people spouting, "Howdy neighbor!"
Headin' on up to Olive Garden gonna see if I can't unwind
I like girls with lots of bread sticks I like girls with pasta passes
Come on down to Olive Garden and meet some friends of mine

Tonight I had the Angel Hair pasta w/ the Meat sauce, Meatballs, salad and a Coke.

20141015_175358

The sauce and meatballs were their normal self tonight but the pasta was a little overcooked. The biggest issue was that the container was stuffed full of it. The sauce hardly made a dent so I ate mostly dry pasta. I decided to go with the salad tonight because I haven't got it in a while. I don't usually because they give you this giant container of lettuce and this tiny container of dressing. Overall it was pretty good and the salad bumped up the score a little to a 7.5 out of 10.

Day 23 - Full Pasta Jacket

Tonight, you pukes will sleep with your passes. You will give your pass a girl's name because this is the only p***y you people are going to get. Your days of finger-banging ol' Mary-Jane Rottencrotch through her pretty pink panties are over! You're married to this piece. This weapon of plastic and ink. And you will be faithful. Port, hut!

On the menu tonight was the Angel Hair Pasta w/ the 5 Cheese Marinara!!!, Shrimp Fritta and a Coke.

20141014_175258

The pasta was a little over cooked but the Angel Hair is forgiving in that respect so it wasn't too bad. The shrimp was over cooked as well and those little guys definitely paid the price. There was one that i'm not 100 percent sure was shrimp. The sauce was pretty good and there was plenty to cover all the pasta. I'm giving this meal a 6.5 out of 10.

Day 22 - Pasta Darko

28 days, 6 hours, 42 minutes, 12 seconds. That is when the pasta pass will end..

On deck tonight was the Penne pasta w/ Meat sauce & Meatballs and a Coke. I got the Chicken & Gnocchi soup to try (not a big soup eater) but didn't care for it.

20141013_183719

The pasta was cooked just right and the meat sauce was pretty good, it did have a hint of the sausage this time but nothing like the first day. The meatballs were good, they have that processed store bought taste but they are edible. As I said the Chicken Gnocchi soup tasted okay but I didn't care for it and it isn't part of the 7 out of 10 score I am giving this meal.

Day 19 - Scene Missing

I don't want to think of a theme because I'm on a Dexter binge and Pexter was too close to making this blog NC-17. To make up for it here is a video of a baby monkey eating..

I had the Angel Hair pasta tonight w/ Spicy 3 Meat sauce & Chicken Fritta. I'm glad(?) to say I didn't hit the dreaded pasta wall..

20141010_182951

The pasta and sauce were good but there was not nearly enough sauce. The chicken was almost solid rock, I had some of the salad as well tonight which is never bad. I will give this meal a 5 out of 10.

So yea, I had pasta tonight..I hope it was just a bad meal and not the pasta wall but the Spaghetti w\ Marinara & Chicken Fritta was not my favorite meal.

20141009_185021

The meal started out okay but a quarter of the way through it started taking at least an hour for each bite. After about hour twelve I made it to half way and had to stop. I think everything was overcooked as the chicken was mostly hard pieces as well. The Coke was cold so I will give this meal a 2 out of 10. I think I will be eating the Pasta e Fagioli soup shortly...

Day 17 - American Pasta

New meal. What do you think?
Whoa-ho. Very nice. Look at that.
Picked it up from the restaurant today.
Good coloring.
That's Cavatappi. And the sauce is something called Marinara.
It's very cool, Bateman, but that's nothing. Look at this.
That is really nice.
Penne with Alfredo sauce. What do you think?
Nice.
Jesus. That is really super. How'd a nitwit like you get so tasteful?
[Thinking] I can't believe that Bryce prefers Van Patten's meal to mine.
But wait. You ain't seen nothin' yet. ..two Meatballs.
Impressive. Very nice.
Hmm.
Let's see Paul Allen's plate.
[Thinking] Look at that Angel Hair pasta. The 5 Cheese Marinara. Oh, my God. It even has the Shrimp Fritta.
Is something wrong, Patrick? You're sweating.

Tonight I stuck with the safe meal and got the Angel Hair pasta w/the Meat sauce & Shrimp Fritta and a Coke.

20141008_175200

The pasta and meat sauce were pretty good. Although the shrimp doesn't really go with the meat sauce, it helps to mix up the plates so my stomach doesn't know I'm eating the same thing every night. I had a little Extra too so I will give this meal a 7 out of 10.

Day 16 - Harold and Kumar go to Olive Garden

I want that.
What? A Hot Dog Heaven super chili cheese dog?
No. I want that feeling. The feeling that comes over a man when he gets exactly what he desires. I need that feeling!
Are you saying what I think you're saying?
We gotta go to Olive Garden.
YES! YES! I knew you had it in you dude!

Tonight featured the Penne Pasta w/ the Marinara sauce & Meatballs. I also picked up the Pasta e Fagioli soup but have yet to eat it as usual..

20141007_180652

The pasta was cooked just right and the Marinara sauce paired well with the Penne and the meatballs. Nothing spectacular with tonight's meal but good overall so I will give it a 7 out of 10

Day 15 - Pasta Club

Welcome to the Pasta Pass. The first rule of the Pasta Pass is: you do not talk about the Pasta Pass. The second rule of the Pasta Pass is: you DO NOT talk about the Pasta Pass!

I plan on sticking with the red sauces for take out after last week so today I went with the Angel Hair pasta w/ the Spicy 3 Meat sauce & Chicken Fritta and a Coke.

20141006_182756

Some of the pasta was not done but other than that it was a pretty good plate. The chicken was good and the spicy sauce was well, spicy... I got the Minestrone soup as well but that became a left over which will probably turn into a midnight snack some night this week. Overall, pretty good so I will give it an 8 out of 10.
Calories - 1180
Cost tonight - $18.09

Day 12 - Days of Pasta

All right. While we're still under a caution, I want you to go back out on that track and eat the bread stick.
Eat the bread stick?
EAT the bread stick.
What for?
Because you've ate every other goddamned thing out there, I want you to be perfect.

Tonight I picked up the Whole Wheat Linguine w/ the Roasted Mushroom Alfredo Sauce and Chicken Fritta. I stopped at my moms and shared the Pasta e Fagioli and bread sticks with her while I spent some time there and ate.

20141003_175009

This was the biggest disappointment so far. The mushroom sauce was a little dry last time and I thought it was from the reheating. With the combination of the whole wheat and that sauce this time, it was just way too dry to eat. I finished about half of it before I ran out of Coke and gave up. The chicken was the only saving grace so this meal squeaks by with a 3 out of 10. The flavor is good but it was only 45 min between when I called and when I ate so I don't recommend the mushroom sauce for To Go orders. I will try it again when I eat in because the sauce does have a great taste just also has a time limit.
Calories - 1320/2
Cost tonight - $16.07
Up - $50.13

Day 11 - The Pasta Sauce report

Hello Peter, what's happening..Aaaaah we have sort of a problem here, yeaaah you apparently didn't put one of the new packets of grated cheese in with that last pasta pass to go order.
Oh yea i'm sorry about that I, I forgot.
Umm Yea, you see we are putting the packets of grated cheese in with every pasta pass to go orders now before they go out. Did you see the memo about this?
Yeah, yeah yeah I have the memo right here.. I, I just forgot but it's not shipping out till tomorrow so there's no problem.
Yea if you could just go ahead and make sure you do that from now on that would be great and ahh I'll go ahead and make sure you get another copy of that memo. Okay..
Yeah.. no, I have the memo. I got it, it's right...

I am finished up with on-call or what we like to call it.. hell-week. Ok, not really. It's actually very easy as I can reboot a VDI over VPN on my ASS. I'm really lucky to have such a great job. Enough about me everyone is here to see those spicy pasta pixx. Tonight I ate in house at the OG and had the Whole Wheat Linguine w/ the Alfredo Sauce & Shrimp Fritta, salad, water and wine!

20141002_175701

It was a good meal/time over all. The whole wheat pasta was surprisingly good, I didn't notice the big difference in taste like you would get with white and whole wheat bread. The sauce went well with the Linguine and the Shrimp Fritta was very well done again. With the toppings I believe the shrimp is my favorite. The wine tied everything together very well and was a good way to add a fresh taste to these meals. I give this meal an 8 out of 10.
Calories - 1450
Cost tonight - $7.07 (wine n tip aren't part of the pass)
Up - $34.06

Day 10 - Pinky and the Pasta ...and Day 9

Gee Brain what do you want to do tonight?
Same thing we do every night Pinky... Go to Olive Garden!

I went with the Spaghetti w/ the Meat Sauce and Chicken Fritta, the Minestrone soup and a Coke. Last night I had the Angel Hair Pasta w/ the Spicy Three Meat Sauce and Meatballs but forgot about my blog. No pic from last night either, just picture Day 5 with the Meatballs.

20141001_181843

Day 9
This was the best I've had so far. I was going to get a pic but it was gone before I had a chance. The addition of the meatballs made it the traditional Italian chain restaurant meal. I give it my highest score of a 9.5 out of 10
Calories - 1300
Cost tonight - $15.57
UP!! - $10.92

Day 10
The Spaghetti was cooked just right and the meat sauce was good this time, it was the opposite of Day 1 and it has a great taste without the sausage drowning everything out. The Chicken Fritta has been good overall and tonight was no exception. I give this meal a 7 out of 10.
Calories - 1040
Cost tonight - $16.07
Up - $26.99

Day 8 - The Pastrix

This is your last chance. After this, there is no turning back. You get the Fettuccine Alfredo - the story ends, you wake up in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe. You get the Cavatappi pasta - you stay in Wonderland and I show you how deep the rabbit-hole goes.

Tonight's menu consisted of the Cavatappi pasta w/ the, count 'em, 5 cheese marinara! & meatballs, Pasta e Fagioli soup and the bread sticks.

20140929_175631

The pasta was good and the '5 Cheese Marinara!' was actually lighter than I though it would be and had a flavorful taste. I like their meatballs, not as good as home made but pretty good for a chain restaurant. Overall a good mix so i will give it a 6 out of 10.
Calories - 990
Cost tonight - $12.98
Down - $4.65, one more day!

Do not try to eat all the pasta, that's impossible. Instead... only try to realize the truth.
What truth?
There is no pasta.

Day 6 - Off Day

Just from the Olive Garden dinners in my first week I consumed 6,510 calories and around 700g of carbs. I have a little over $17.00 left till it becomes a value with over 40 days left. I chose to skip today because it's about an hour round trip for me to pick it up and sitting here on my ass is much easier. :-) I'm on call @ work this week so that makes it tough as well and during the week I'm only 5 min away so it makes sense. I needed steak any way so I made a London Broil with a mango salsa and garlic butter asparagus. I found a recipe  for Tex-Mex London Broil with Mango-Lime Salsa and the mango salsa was really good paired with the steak.

The steak was cooked perfectly and I didn't know if I would like the mango but it was actually really good with the steak. I have been liking the asparagus, just frying it in butter and about 3 cloves of fresh garlic. Technically I did have OG today.. I ate the soup and salad leftover from the week for lunch.

Day 5 - National Lampoons Pasta Vacation

I don't want to be in the car any more, I want to go home, I don't wanna go to Olive Garden.
Clark, under the circumstances, I wouldn't mind if we just went home. In retrospect it seems like a pretty bad idea driving out, it's been one disaster after another.
Yea, it's been a real drag dad. Maybe we can try it some other time. Olive Gardens' over-rated any way.
What do you think...
I think you're all f**ked in the head. We're ten hours from the f**king restaurant and you want to bail out. Well I'll tell you something. This is no longer a vacation. It's a quest. It's a quest for pasta. I'm gonna have pasta, and you're gonna have pasta... We're all gonna have so much f**king pasta we're gonna need plastic surgery to remove our goddamn smiles! You'll be whistling 'Zip-A-Dee Doo-Dah' out of your as**oles! HaHaHA..I gotta be crazy! I'm on a pilgrimage to eat a bread stick. Praise Olive Garden! Holy S**t!

Tonight I picked up another to go order. I went with the Angel Hair Pasta w/ the Spicy Three Meat Sauce & Shrimp Fritta, one bread stick and a Coke.

20140926_182910

I tried the spicy meat sauce tonight and was not disappointed. It paired well with both the pasta and shrimp and made putting down that much pasta easier. I could see just getting mounds of bread sticks with that sauce...ummm. This is very close to being my favorite so I am going  give it an 8.5 out of 10.
Calories around 1250
Cost tonight - $16.07
Still Down - $17.63

Look kids Angel Hair Pasta and Meat Sauce.

Day 4 - Super Pasta

Alright meow time for day 4 of my Pasta Pass. Today I picked up the Penne pasta (meow I was going to try the Whole Wheat Pasta but I decided to get the Penne meow and save the Whole Wheat for later) w/ the Marinara Sauce & Chicken Fritta and a Coke. I got the bread sticks and the Pasta Fagioli soup but didn't eat them yet.

20140925_183945

Meow initially, it looked like they shorted me on the sauce again but the marinara covered it all easily. The pasta was cooked perfectly and meow this time the chicken was the same. The marinara sauce was good, meow I did have to add salt to everything but that doesn't hurt the score. If it was over-salted, meow that would take some points away. Over all it was very good so meow I'm going to give it an 8 out of 10
Calories around 860
Cost tonight - $16.07
Meow down - $33.70

Day 3 Loading...

Sbpasta.exe

Hey Mr. S to the B
What of pasta do you like?
Sincerly,
Drake

Well Dr. Ake,

S to the B loves all type of pasta, Sagnarelli, Stringozzi, Spirali and of course my favorite Strozzapreti..

Day 3 and I went with Olive Garden To go.. and picked up the Fettuccine w/ Alfredo Mushroom Sauce and the Chicken Fritta, a Coke while I waited..and a breadstick on the ride home. I added the fresh broccoli myself..oh, and a bread stick while I'm writing this blog..

Day3

The mushroom alfredo sauce was good but there wasn't much on my pasta so it was one of those times where you know that stirring it will not be enough. After said stirring in a hopeless attempt you start finding the dry spots and you dive bomb those areas with what capable soldiers you have left. Any way, the chicken was dry but I attribute that to nuking it before consumption. The taste of the chicken was good so that is what my rating was based on. I give this plate a 7 out of 10
Calories around 1600
Cost tonight - $15.00*
Still down $49.77
*The total tonight was $15.ish.. I forgot the receipt, rookie take out mistake, so I will round it down to $15.

Day 2 - O Pasta, Where Art Thou?

I am a man of constant pasta
Double meatballs on my plate
I bid farewell to those bread sticks
In my stomach they will stay.
In his stomach they will stay...

Day two of my Olive Garden Pasta Pass consisted of the salad, Fettuccine Pasta w/ Alfredo Sauce and Shrimp Fritta, a couple Cokes again.

20140923_175133

The Alfredo sauce and pasta were very good tonight and the Shrimp Fritta were excellent so I give this plate a 9 out of 10.
Calories around 1600
Cost tonight was $17.07 - Still down $64.77 but shrinking fast.

Day 1 of Pastageddon!!!!!!!

Olive Garden Interior - evening

A tall but otherwise inconspicuous male walks in...
He flashes his pass,.. "right this way sir". A selection of wine is offered up for his table's approval whilst bread sticks, hot and fresh from the oven, are placed upon the banquet table. The salad, limitless it seems, holds them over until the feast arrives. The meal arrives by horse drawn carriage and 4 servers lift the plate on to the table. Laid out before him was an angelic plate of pasta. The feast seem to last for days and when they were finished overturned bread baskets lay strewn among the cups of melting ice...

Ok, maybe it didn't go exactly that way but today was the first day of my 49 day pasta pass. I had the Angel Hair Pasta w/ Meat Sauce and Meatballs, salad and a couple Cokes.

IMG_20140922_175030

The pasta was a little over cooked and the Italian sausage was too dominate in the meat sauce but the meatballs were ok so I'll give it a 4 out of 10.
Calories around 1200
The cost tonight was $18.16 so I'm down to $81.84 for the value to kick in. I don't believe I'll have a problem with that. I am going to try most of the 49 days as you can do take out as well...
