Day 8 - The Pastrix

This is your last chance. After this, there is no turning back. You get the Fettuccine Alfredo - the story ends, you wake up in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe. You get the Cavatappi pasta - you stay in Wonderland and I show you how deep the rabbit-hole goes.

Tonight's menu consisted of the Cavatappi pasta w/ the, count 'em, 5 cheese marinara! & meatballs, Pasta e Fagioli soup and the bread sticks.

20140929_175631

The pasta was good and the '5 Cheese Marinara!' was actually lighter than I though it would be and had a flavorful taste. I like their meatballs, not as good as home made but pretty good for a chain restaurant. Overall a good mix so i will give it a 6 out of 10.
Calories - 990
Cost tonight - $12.98
Down - $4.65, one more day!

Do not try to eat all the pasta, that's impossible. Instead... only try to realize the truth.
What truth?
There is no pasta.

Day 6 - Off Day

Just from the Olive Garden dinners in my first week I consumed 6,510 calories and around 700g of carbs. I have a little over $17.00 left till it becomes a value with over 40 days left. I chose to skip today because it's about an hour round trip for me to pick it up and sitting here on my ass is much easier. :-) I'm on call @ work this week so that makes it tough as well and during the week I'm only 5 min away so it makes sense. I needed steak any way so I made a London Broil with a mango salsa and garlic butter asparagus. I found a recipe  for Tex-Mex London Broil with Mango-Lime Salsa and the mango salsa was really good paired with the steak.

The steak was cooked perfectly and I didn't know if I would like the mango but it was actually really good with the steak. I have been liking the asparagus, just frying it in butter and about 3 cloves of fresh garlic. Technically I did have OG today.. I ate the soup and salad leftover from the week for lunch.

Day 5 - National Lampoons Pasta Vacation

I don't want to be in the car any more, I want to go home, I don't wanna go to Olive Garden.
Clark, under the circumstances, I wouldn't mind if we just went home. In retrospect it seems like a pretty bad idea driving out, it's been one disaster after another.
Yea, it's been a real drag dad. Maybe we can try it some other time. Olive Gardens' over-rated any way.
What do you think...
I think you're all f**ked in the head. We're ten hours from the f**king restaurant and you want to bail out. Well I'll tell you something. This is no longer a vacation. It's a quest. It's a quest for pasta. I'm gonna have pasta, and you're gonna have pasta... We're all gonna have so much f**king pasta we're gonna need plastic surgery to remove our goddamn smiles! You'll be whistling 'Zip-A-Dee Doo-Dah' out of your as**oles! HaHaHA..I gotta be crazy! I'm on a pilgrimage to eat a bread stick. Praise Olive Garden! Holy S**t!

Tonight I picked up another to go order. I went with the Angel Hair Pasta w/ the Spicy Three Meat Sauce & Shrimp Fritta, one bread stick and a Coke.

20140926_182910

I tried the spicy meat sauce tonight and was not disappointed. It paired well with both the pasta and shrimp and made putting down that much pasta easier. I could see just getting mounds of bread sticks with that sauce...ummm. This is very close to being my favorite so I am going  give it an 8.5 out of 10.
Calories around 1250
Cost tonight - $16.07
Still Down - $17.63

Day 4 - Super Pasta

Alright meow time for day 4 of my Pasta Pass. Today I picked up the Penne pasta (meow I was going to try the Whole Wheat Pasta but I decided to get the Penne meow and save the Whole Wheat for later) w/ the Marinara Sauce & Chicken Fritta and a Coke. I got the bread sticks and the Pasta Fagioli soup but didn't eat them yet.

20140925_183945

Meow initially, it looked like they shorted me on the sauce again but the marinara covered it all easily. The pasta was cooked perfectly and meow this time the chicken was the same. The marinara sauce was good, meow I did have to add salt to everything but that doesn't hurt the score. If it was over-salted, meow that would take some points away. Over all it was very good so meow I'm going to give it an 8 out of 10
Calories around 860
Cost tonight - $16.07
Meow down - $33.70

Day 3 Loading...

Sbpasta.exe

Hey Mr. S to the B
What of pasta do you like?
Sincerly,
Drake

Well Dr. Ake,

S to the B loves all type of pasta, Sagnarelli, Stringozzi, Spirali and of course my favorite Strozzapreti..

Day 3 and I went with Olive Garden To go.. and picked up the Fettuccine w/ Alfredo Mushroom Sauce and the Chicken Fritta, a Coke while I waited..and a breadstick on the ride home. I added the fresh broccoli myself..oh, and a bread stick while I'm writing this blog..

Day3

The mushroom alfredo sauce was good but there wasn't much on my pasta so it was one of those times where you know that stirring it will not be enough. After said stirring in a hopeless attempt you start finding the dry spots and you dive bomb those areas with what capable soldiers you have left. Any way, the chicken was dry but I attribute that to nuking it before consumption. The taste of the chicken was good so that is what my rating was based on. I give this plate a 7 out of 10
Calories around 1600
Cost tonight - $15.00*
Still down $49.77
*The total tonight was $15.ish.. I forgot the receipt, rookie take out mistake, so I will round it down to $15.

Day 2 - O Pasta, Where Art Thou?

I am a man of constant pasta
Double meatballs on my plate
I bid farewell to those bread sticks
In my stomach they will stay.
In his stomach they will stay...

Day two of my Olive Garden Pasta Pass consisted of the salad, Fettuccine Pasta w/ Alfredo Sauce and Shrimp Fritta, a couple Cokes again.

20140923_175133

The Alfredo sauce and pasta were very good tonight and the Shrimp Fritta were excellent so I give this plate a 9 out of 10.
Calories around 1600
Cost tonight was $17.07 - Still down $64.77 but shrinking fast.

Day 1 of Pastageddon!!!!!!!

Olive Garden Interior - evening

A tall but otherwise inconspicuous male walks in...
He flashes his pass,.. "right this way sir". A selection of wine is offered up for his table's approval whilst bread sticks, hot and fresh from the oven, are placed upon the banquet table. The salad, limitless it seems, holds them over until the feast arrives. The meal arrives by horse drawn carriage and 4 servers lift the plate on to the table. Laid out before him was an angelic plate of pasta. The feast seem to last for days and when they were finished overturned bread baskets lay strewn among the cups of melting ice...

Ok, maybe it didn't go exactly that way but today was the first day of my 49 day pasta pass. I had the Angel Hair Pasta w/ Meat Sauce and Meatballs, salad and a couple Cokes.

IMG_20140922_175030

The pasta was a little over cooked and the Italian sausage was too dominate in the meat sauce but the meatballs were ok so I'll give it a 4 out of 10.
Calories around 1200
The cost tonight was $18.16 so I'm down to $81.84 for the value to kick in. I don't believe I'll have a problem with that. I am going to try most of the 49 days as you can do take out as well...
